Change Text Size on Mini Laptops Running Windows 7

You might find it easier to read what is being displayed on the mini laptop screen by making a simple adjustment to the size of some items such as text. If you are running Windows 7 on your mini laptop, these steps will show you how to quickly accomplish this. This will make the text and other items being displayed on the mini laptop screen larger, yet it may create the need to use scroll bars in situations where they had not been prior to making the changes to the size.

Here are the steps to follow:

From the Windows 7 desktop you can click on the start button in the lower left corner. Next select Control Panel from the Start Menu. You will then have a group of choices and you should click on Display. There is a small icon of a display screen by this.

Once you have clicked on Display you will see the final screen. Here you will have the choice of selecting the radio button for Medium or Smaller. Actually the Smaller is the default setting and the Medium is 125% of the default. As the final notification message points out, once the settings are changed you will need to log out and then back into the user account that you made these changes in. If you are going to simply use the default instead, then you can hit the apply button. This provides an easy way to check if you find that increasing this will help you see the things on your mini laptop screen better.

Are Mini Laptops good for everyday use?

With the lightweight and relatively inexpensive mini laptops on the market today you might think that these are going to be inadequate in their power or reliability to perform your daily computing endeavors. The key to getting a portable computer that you are happy with is to decide what it is that you will be doing with the laptop each day, and use this information to choose one that can handle your needs.

The data storage on a mini laptop is going to be surprisingly close to what you will find on many standard sized laptop computers. For instance most of the minis will use hard drives that range in the neighborhood of 160GB to 320GB. If you were to get one of the models with on-chip technology or one with an SSD then the sizes will be much less in most instances. Basically the majority of users are most interesting in the more mainstream designs so the 160 to 320 gig drives will be found most often.

RAM in most mini laptops is going to come standard with between 1GB and 2GB. Keep in mind that if you are using Windows XP as the operating system then 1GB is perfect, yet if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 then you really should have at least 2GB installed in the computer. Otherwise things can get pretty sluggish performance-wise even under normal daily usage.

The processors in many of the mini laptops and netbooks on the market today are designed around the Intel Atom processor. These are designed specifically for the small laptops and are very good at conserving battery power and running at reduced temperatures all in an effort to conserve battery life. These processors usually start at around 1.66GHz and go up from there.

As you can see by the specifications commonly found on mini laptops and netbook computers today, these devices are designed with quality components capable of performing many advanced computing tasks as well as daily multimedia and multitasking operations. Reliability and performance go hand in hand with the ultraportable designs of these small computers today.
